Steel Band Culture was formed by Ed Stephen, who began playing the steel pan at age ten. Ed spent his early years listening to his father and uncle play the steel pan with The Invaders Steel Orchestra, and under the tutelage of renowned band-leader Ellie Mannette.
Ed later joined the Starlift Steel Orchestra. Based in his native Trinidad, they performed in England, Costa Rica, and North America.
Today Ed is a solo pannist and the band leader of the Palm Beach Steel Orchestra, recently performing in the Lake Worth Holiday Parade. Ed also teaches private lessons.
