Paul spent four years in the U.S. Army as a musician where his duties were performing military ceremonies playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, drums, and percussion for the 82nd Airborne Division Military Band. Paul's other army band duties included conducting, arranging, composing music as well as repairing the band's instruments. He worked four years for Menchey's Music in Hanover PA in the instrument repair department where he was trained to repair violins, cellos, electric guitars, and electric bass guitars.
